This week, ERS Railways has returned 3 locos to leasing company MRCE: 513-10, 561-4 and 653-3.
Earlier this month, CrossRail Benelux returned loco MRCE 653-09 (DE6305) to leasing company MRCE.
Since 13-12-2009, Rail4Chem Benelux does not exist anymore as a operator, all locos are now with Veolia Cargo.
Veolia Cargo 8653-01 has lost his Veolia-decals this week.

The 2 blue HHPI class 66s have now been numbered 29004 and 29005, their official lease started 27 November 2009.
ACTS got now loco 653-4 in service again, after being used with ERS Railways.
SNCF Fret Benelux got 6606 in service since 02-11-2009, while 6604 went off-lease for getting overhaul.

The Locomotives-on-order list has been updated, which is a very short list now...
As mentioned earlier, ERS Railways uses MRCE 561-4 now. The loco still carries the old DLC number DE6304.

[Europe]
There is a new page added to the site containing UIC numbers for locos, these also appear on the loco-pages.
Rail4Chem Benelux CB1001 was hired to Freightliner Poland for a few weeks, since May 2009.

ERS Railways 6614 was handed back to the leasing company at the end of June 2009.
ERS Railways 6605 was handed back to the leasing company on 29-06-2009.
CrossRail Benelux DE6303 was handed back to the leasing company at the end of July 2009.
Euro Cargo Rail 77043 and 77044 were transported on 03-08-2009 from Rotterdam Botlek to NedTrain Tilburg.

Euro Cargo Rail 77005 and 77020 were transported on 03-08-2009 from NedTrain Tilburg to Germany.
__These locos got their traction motors rewired at NedTrain Tilburg. This should solve the problem that the tractions motors
__could influence the German track signal systems. After testing in Germany with several other machines like Euro4000,
__the locos returned to Tilburg on 19-08-2009.

ERS Railways 6615 and 6617 both have lost their ERS livery and are completely black again.

ERS Railways 6616 with freighttrain was part of a heavy collision at Barendrecht (NL) on 24-09-2009 with a DB Schenker freighttrain.
__The driver of the latter died in the accident... Loco 6616 is heavy damaged and it is unsure if it will be repaired.

Veolia France 77501, 77502, 77503 arrived with Jumboship Stellaprima at Rotterdam Heijplaat (NL) on 29-09-2009.
__A week later on 06-10-2009 they were moved from the docks at Heijplaat to Rotterdam Waalhaven.
__On 09-10-2009 they were transported to NedTrain Tilburg for final assembling.

German operator NBE Rail got its first class 66 in lease from 28-10-2009 with number 266 067-6. This is former ERS 6613.

The only class 66 of German DGMT (ex-ERS 6604) got an UIC number applied, and should be called 266 014-0 now.

[Egypt]
Jumboship MV Fairlane docked in the port of Alexandria (Egypt) on 08-07-2009 delivering 10 class66s: 2134, 2137-2138, 2142-2148.
__This is the second delivery from order 20078963 (40 locos) for ENR (Egyptian National Railways).
Jumboship Jumbo Challenger arrived in the port of Alexandria in Egypt on 08-10-2009 with 16 Egyptian class66 on board.
__These were the remaining 15 locos from order 20078963 (40 locos) for ENR (Egyptian National Railways) with numbers 2149-2163,
__and 1 loco numbered AAST2 which will be used as a training unit, this machine was built under order number 20088096.

Locos 66401-66405 (ex-DRS) were on transport yesterday from Leeds Midland Road via Peterborough to Willesden.
Freightliner 66582 and 66583 (prepared for Poland) will go on transport to Immingham for shipping tomorrow. Timings can be found here. Locos will be shipped from Immingham to Cuxhaven in Germany where it will arrive on June 2nd. From there on transport by rail to Poland with operator EGP.

Freightliner Poland 66008 (ex-Freightliner UK 66586) has entered Polish services on the 8th of May after 5 months of modification.
Freightliner 66582 (FPL 66009) and 66583 (FPL 66010) are still being modified at Leeds Midland Road (U.K.) for use in Poland.
___Shipment is planned end of May to arrive at Cuxhaven (Germany) on 2nd June. Transport to Poland will be done by EGP.

Regarding the Euro Cargo Rail loco's from order 20068864: 77001-77044 are in Europe and 77045-77060 are still at EMD London, Ontario (Canada). Locos 77029, 77034, 77041-77044 are temporary parked at Rotterdam Botlek. About 13 locos are in France for instructions and testing. The others are still at NedTrain works in Tilburg (NL) for final asembling.
ECR 77039 and 77040 were transported from Rotterdam Botlek to NedTrain Tilburg on April 29th by Rail4Chem PB017.
Rail4Chem CB1001 has been sent to Poland for short-hire to Freightliner Poland.
EMD order 20078941 for brandnew Veolia 77501-77503 is planned to ship in September.

Freightliner UK is planning to send over locos 66582 and 66583 to Freightliner Poland.
MRCE 653-10 has returned from Blerick to Kijfhoek yard last week and will do some tests on Betuweroute again.
MRCE 653-4 has to be repaired from an electrical damage which causes delay in delivery to MRCE.
On February 24th, Euro Cargo Rail 77032 and 77035 were transported in a regular freight train from Rotterdam Botlek to Tilburg for final assembling with NedTrain.
On March 10th, Euro Cargo Rail 77031 and 77033 were transported in a regular freight train from Rotterdam Botlek to Tilburg for final assembling with NedTrain. The freight train was hauled by Rail4Chem Benelux 653-08.
The current fleet of new Euro Cargo Rail locos at Rotterdam Botlek is 10 locos: 77029,77034,77036 and 77038-77044.

From today, all 18 Class 66 locomotives from HSBC Rail (leasing) in continental Europe are acquired by Beacon Rail (leasing). The deal concerns locomotives in Sweden (TGOJ T66 713-714), Norway (CargoNet 66 401-66 406), Germany (HGK DE668-DE672) and The Netherlands (the former ERS 6606-6610).

DB Schenker/EWS 66031 has been released from Toton works after 2,5 years out of service.
Jumbo Shipping "Fairplayer" is planned to arrive at Rotterdam Heijplaat tomorrow. It will bring Euro Cargo Rail 77038-77044. Also on board are 15 Class 66 for ENR on their way to Egypt.

A total of 22 Class 66 locos were loaded onto Jumbo Shipping "Fairplayer" at Halifax yesterday, 15 Egyptian locos and 7 French locos.
ECR 77031 an 77033 were transported from Rotterdam Botlek to NedTrain Tilburg, lifting with R4C 653-08 with a aggregatestrain.

As planned today, 3 Euro Cargo Rail JT42CWRM were transported by Railion loco 6434 from NedTrain Tilburg to Kijfhoek yard. The locos will join regular freight trains on their way via Germany to France, starting with train 45713 from Kijfhoek the coming night. Most of the ECR 77 locos which are currently in France are used for driver instructions.
The current state of Advenza's 66406, 66407 and 66408 is unclear.
The news from 23-02-2009 regarding Rail4Chem PB01 and PB02 being off-lease, seems not true. At least PB01 is still in service.

Yesterday, a total of 15 JT42CWRM for ENR (Egyptian National Railways) and 1 for ECR (Euro Cargo Rail 77044) were transported in one haulage from the EMD plant in London, Ontario (Canada) which was powered by GEXR 4019+2211. Check these pictures and this video.
Advenza Freight's new locos 66406, 66407 and 66408 will be transported from Glasgow to Gloucester on 27th Feb or 2nd March.

This Sunday February 22nd, another long bunch of new JT42CWR will leave the EMD plant in London, Ontario (Canada). This time the first locos from Egypt order 20078963 will go on transport. 15 locos for Egyptian National Railways will leave EMD together with 1 loco for Euro Cargo Rail (77044). At IRS/Moncton, they will also pick up the 6 Euro Cargo Rail 77038-77043, which makes the transport contain 22 locos. Shipping is planned from Halifax. It is still unclear if all locos will be shipped with one ship or more, so there is still a possibillity that Egyptian locos will visit Rotterdam first when unloading the Euro Cargo Rail locos. [GW]

HGK DE 62 has been in revision at the HGK workshop at Brühl-Vochem (Germany) and is delivered at 22.01.2009. HGK DE 61 will follow soon. Here is a new picture of the revised DE 62.

From the remaining Euro Cargo Rail locomotives (order 20068864) that are still in Canada, 77038-77043 are finished at IRS Moncton and put in temporary storage, 77044-77048 are put in temporary storage at Stratford Yard, and 77049-77060 are on the EMD plant at London still in primer.
Also the 7 units for Crossrail Benelux (order 20078968) are put in storage at Stratford Yard. [CRO]

Today, another bunch (5 or 6) of new Euro Cargo Rail Class 66 locos left the Tilburg NedTrain workshop. At least 77001 was with them. They were hauled by the black Rail4Chem 653-08 from Tilburg to Venlo, where a MWB loco took over the transport via Germany to France.

Today, after 14 months of modifications and awaiting approval, the first 5 grey Euro Cargo Rail JT42CWRM left the NedTrain workshop at Tilburg (NL). The transport left there in the morning and led via Köln (Germany) to Strassbourg (France). The transport in The Netherlands was hauled by Crossrail DE6309, the German part was hauled by an MWB G1206. At least 77004 and 77012 were in it.
DB Schenker 59206 has seen daylight today in a fresh red and yellow livery at Toton (UK).

As per 01/01/2009, the latest version of the JT42CWRM (Euro 66) has got approval for France! After more than a year there is finally the long-awaited homologation. The latest version is up-to-date with all noise and emission reduction standards. The several versions of the 'Class 66' are now certified for the following countries: Great Britain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Romania and Poland.
The approval was started originally for the order for 60 locos for Euro Cargo Rail (French subsidiary of British EWS, now DB Schenker). Already 38 machines of these order are delivered from EMD Canada to the Netherlands, being modified by NedTrain at their Tilburg workshop. The other 22 locos are built, but are currently stored at the EMD plant in London, Ontario, Canada. ECR 77038-77043 are at IRS in Moncton, Canada.
Also CrossRail Benelux (former DLC Railway from Belgium) has ordered 4 locos of this ECR-style JT42CWRM, they are also in The Netherlands, following the process with NedTrain for final assembling. Both these orders are being equipped with all the safety systems needed for use in France, Belgium and Germany.
Since the first locos of the ECR order are completely finished, they might be able to run trains, but it is still unclear when the first machines will be released from works.

Today, 2 new locos were transported from Rotterdam Botlek to Tilburg (NedTrain works) for final assembling. The locos DE6310F (Crossrail) and 77011 (Euro Cargo Rail) lifted with a containershuttle which was hauled by Veolia 8653-01. This led to a very nice black-grey-white combination!

The year 2008 is almost done, so it is time for a little review. During this year a total amount of 58 Class 66 locomotives were released from the EMD works into Europe. European mainland got 34 machines, Great-Britain got 24 machines:

- Euro Cargo Rail (France): 77001, 77002, 77010-77037 (30 machines)
- CrossRail Benelux (Belgium): DE6310F-DE6313F (4 machines)
- Freightliner (UK): 66595-66599, 66953-66957 (10 machines)
- Fastline Freight (UK): 66301-66305 (5 machines)
- FirstGBRf (UK): 66728-66732 (5 machines)
- DRS (UK): 66431-66434 (4 machines)

Some remarkable notes can be made:
Freightliner 66586 that was sent over to mainland Europe for use with Freightliner Poland. The ten oldest DRS locos were set off-lease and went over to Freightliner (but still not in use). SNCF Fret Benelux got their first 3 lease-machines, which were in use for ERS Railways earlier.

For the year 2009, everyone is looking forward to the delivery of the first of 40 Egyptian Class 66 for ENR very soon. Also Euro Cargo Rail and CrossRail Benelux will get more locos. New locos for FirstGBRf (5) and DRS (10) are to be confirmed.

As mentioned before, Dutch operator ERS Railways has made a start with replacing their Class 66's by e-traction. Loco's 6601-6604 and 6606-6610 will leave ERS soon. Loco's 6601-6603 will be handed over to the leasing company today, and will then be leased to SNCF Fret Benelux.
From the 15 brandnew machines that are parked at Rotterdam Maasvlakte since last October, 2 of them were transported today to NedTrain Tilburg for final assembling. Euro Cargo Rail 77030 and CrossRail DE6311F were hauled by Veolia 8653-01.
Euro Cargo Rail 77005 has been sent over to Germany yesterday for some kind of testing.

Last week, newly deliveried DRS 66433 was hired by Fastline Freight to replace their troubly 66302.
ERS Railways 6601 and 6609 are the first 2 machines that will be handed over to the leasing company this month. ERS 6609 already lost its adhesives yesterday. It's the first step in replacing all their 17 class 66s by electric machines. ERS has already 4 Siemens Eurosprinter type 189 locos leased from MRCE.

Jumboship MV Stellanova arrived at Newport Docks on 5th November with Fastline 66302, DRS 66431-66434, Freightliner 66954-66957. All loco details can be found at the loco-pages.
Freightliner 66586 has already arrived in Poland and is currently located at the Unikol Railway Workshop in Kostrzyn. The loco will be modified for use on Polish systems, and should enter traffic for Freightliner Poland early next year. Also the loco will be renumbered to 66008 since it is their 8th loco, after the 66001-66007 which were directly delivered to Freightliner Poland in 2007.
The loco was shipped from Immingham (UK) to Cuxhaven (Germany) and then by rail to Kostrzyn (Poland). Picture at Cuxhaven here.

Operator ERS Railways will get 5 new electrical locomotives (Class 189 / Siemens ES64F4) on lease within a few weeks. This is the first step to replace all their 17 Class 66s within two years. The first 6 Class 66s will return to the leasing company already this year.
CrossRail Benelux (DLC) DE6304 will be returned to the leasing company (MRCE) due to the end of the leasing contract.
Yesterday, the Jumbo Challenger, arrived in te port of Rotterdam with a bunch of new Euro Class 66s.
Since there are 24 ECR class 66s now at the NedTrain workshop in Tilburg, there isn't really much room left for any new ones. Therefore some of the locos will be placed at Rotterdam Maasvlakte for a short time.
In November the next batch for DRS (66431/434) will arrive at Newport Docks, together with Fastline Freight 66302 which has been partly rebuilt due to problems.
Electro Motive Diesels was also present at the InnoTrans fair in Berlin/Germany, showing brandnew CrossRail Benelux DE6312F.
At the Innotrans was an introduction of the follow-up of the current Class 66: it's called the Class66EU and will hit tracks in 2011.

MRCE 653-4 arrived in Europe by ship in February 2006. On the 9th of September 2008 the loco finally has been released from works to Dutch operator ACTS Nederland. In the time between, this loco (together with MRCE 653-10) has been tested intensifely by Bombardier for their version of the ETCS-system. The tests has come to an end for now. Till the Bombardier-ETCS is certified, both loco's can only run on normal lines with the ETCS-equipment in ATB mode (if running in The Netherlands) or PZB-mode (For Germany).

The MV Jumbo Spirit left Halifax on the 29th of March. On board 8 loco's for Newport (UK) and 2 loco's for Rotterdam (NL).
UK operator DRS (Direct Rail Services) has plans to change their 66-fleet by giving back oldstyle locos 66401-66410 to leasing company Porterbrook by the end of April. Besides this news, DRS has 4 newstyle 66s on order (to be 66431-66434) to replace the older machines. These are expected to be the former VictaWestLink-ordered machines which were cancelled in October 2007.
Two other operators are already interested in some of the 10 older 66/4 machines, Freightliner and Advenza are mentioned already.
The two ECR locos 77004/77006 on transport on March 18th, have to undergo some testing. Afterwards they will return to Tilburg (NL).
The hire of ERS Railways 6613 to Veolia Transport will end tomorrow.

Today, a bunch of 10 brandnew Class 66 loco's was on their way through Canada from EMD plant in London Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The train consisted of Freightliner UK 66595-66597, FirstGBRf 66728-66732 and another 2 EuroCargoRail locos (expected to be 77012 and 77014). Shipping to the UK and mainland Europe will be done by MV Jumbo Spirit this time. The ship is expected to arrive in Halifax this Sunday for loading. The transport from February 3rd, which consisted of 3 ECR 66s and 5 Indonesian EMD locos, has also been captured on video.

Around the 25th of November, another bunch of brandnew Euro Cargo Rail Class 66's is transported from the Canadian EMD plant in London to Halifax for shipment to Europe. The first brandnew Class 66 loco's for Euro Cargo Rail (in order 20068864 as mentioned here early this year) are currently on their way to Europe! The first 3 loco's will be shipped from Halifax (Canada) to Rotterdam (Netherlands) and will arrive there early November. These loco's are more complete than the previous delivered Euro-66s, so they need less time to be completed at NedTrain Tilburg. DLC Railway has finally got their 4 new Class 66's being released from NedTrain Tilburg works. The DE 6306 and DE 6307 were being delivered to DLC on 9th October 2007. The other two, DE 6308 and DE 6309 were being delivered to DLC on 16th October 2007. All 4 new ones are leased through Belgian KBC Lease.

DLC Railway has also placed another order for 11 Class 66 loco's. Planned delivery from the end of 2008.
The next two Freightliner Poland loco's, 66005 and 66006, are also released from NedTrain Tilburg works on 17th October 2007. They were transported from Tilburg to Venlo by Class 66 EU07 (undelivered loco). Only FPL 66007 is still at Tilburg.

This order of 10 loco's brings the total of built Class 66s to a number of 508.

Today, the first four Class 66 loco's for Freightliner Poland were released from Tilburg (NedTrain works). They were transported from Tilburg to Venlo by DLC DE6307. This one hauled the FPL locos EU04/66003, EU02/66001, EU05/66004, EU03/66002. The transport through Germany to Stettin/Poland will be done by HGK. A picture can be found here.

DLC Railway's black MRCE 653-09 will get the new number DE 6305. DLC will also get one of the new grey loco's recently delivered, EU08 will the future DLC DE 6306.
ACTS will soon get their second Class 66, MRCE 653-4 (JT-4), which is the first Class 66 with ETCS-equipment. The loco is still at NedTrain Tilburg and has got the new ACTS livery today. The other ACTS Class 66, MRCE 513-9, is still in revision from the Arnhem crash last year.

Three days ago, European black Class 66 JT-2 (MRCE) has been transported from Tilburg (NL) to Switzerland for testing.
Freightliner has now shortly hired DRS 66408 also. DRS 66407 and 66409 are also still used by Freightliner.
An order of 20 new Class 66 loco's will be delivered early 2007 in the U.K. Which operator or leasing company is still unknown.
Freightliner's 66521 crashed on the 28th of February 2001 near Great Heck (UK), an accident were 10 persons were killed. Due to the high impact of the accident, no repair of the locomotive was possible. After a long period of research on the loco, and removing several spare parts, 66521 was transported today from Freightliner's Midland Road (Leeds) depot to scrap merchant Booth, Rotherham.
More than 5 years after the accident, the end of 66521 was there...

In 2006, Metronet will start with the renewing of the London Underground. They will hire 9 Class 66 loco's from GB Railfreight for that.
EWS expands their activities to France from the end of this year. A new subsidiary called Euro Cargo Rail will haul trains from the Channel into France. A number of 50-75 Class 66 loco's will go to France if the services are successful. The French type-testing of the Class 66 is in process.
Two new designs have been added to the site: HGK DE 672 in Transpetrol-livery and a preview of the GB Railfreight METRONET livery.
